This is my happy place
Today I’m sharing with you my happy space, the place where all the magic happens!
Actually, I’ve been only 6 months in this new place. As you may know, I moved to the Seattle area a little more than a year ago, but when we (my family and me) first arrived, we stayed in a different apartment, with no extra room for art.
So yes, this is my art studio, and it’s in my house. That makes it very easy and convenient to find the time to go to work and have everything handy, but I have to admit it can also be a distraction.
Anyhow, the good thing is to be able to create your own space that can later become your happy place. In mine, I have a large window, through which I can see trees and squirrels, hear birds chirping and find a lot of peace.
In this sacred place where I imagine, design and execute all of my artistic ventures, I have a picture of my family on my desk, and many others pinned to my boards; I have notes and drawings from my daughters, I have test prints and framed prints all over, and tools and materials, of course.
I believe colorful and thoughtful details make this place always warm and ready to welcome me and my cup of tea at any moment of the day. It can be at noon, after a quick lunch when I come back from my yoga practice, or late in the evening, when everybody’s sleeping.
It’s so healthy to have my own oasis, my sanctuary, my refuge. This little room is also witness to as many “art attacks” as you can think of, when flooded by the endless energy and inspiration of my two creative daughters. They are 8 and 6, and this is also their territory any day after school or, more relaxed, during weekends.
So… do you have a “spa like” place at home? Or is it your happy place your office or atelier? I’d love to hear about how you find your inspiration and your best moments, do you need a quite place as well?
