Under the sea obsession
Hi there!
Nice to be here again.
My stamping journey is pretty new, but my love for the underwater organisms is not. That’s why is not surprising that the first series of stamps I made had to do with that: the ocean’s creatures.
More difficult for me is to find a reason for this life long obsession: might it be it was just destiny? how things were supposed to turn? This deserves a better explanation, the thing is that I have the ocean in my name, as strange as it sounds… my name is Maria del Mar, which in Spanish means Maria “from the Sea”.
Funny enough, it turns out that I’m a biologist, so it has always been pretty obvious to myself that I love and I’m intrigued so much about nature. I’m not however, a marine biologist… Ironic as it may sounds, I’m an ecologist and have studied deserts and ants for several years!
Anyway, the point is that inspiration can take you to unexpected routes, and we should have the courage and be curious enough to follow that path and see what is there for us to learn and enjoy 🙂
So far, I’ve created around 40 little stamps with which I create the designs you’ll find all over this website. From those, almost half of them belong to the “Under the sea” series. And the stamp family will keep growing!
Enjoy the aquatic mandalas and the under the sea stamp collages while you dive into my stamped world of inspiration. And, if you feel the call of the ocean, leave a comment telling me which stamp or print you like the most, or give me some ideas of what ocean creature you’d love to see turned into a cute stamp.
I’d love so much to hear from you!
Thanks for reading and stopping by,
Mery
